In the middle of the busy train station, lived the Little Blue Train. He was a happy little engine with shiny wheels and a bright, friendly smile.

All day long, the Little Blue Train worked hard. He carried toys and fluffy pillows to the children in the town, gliding smoothly along the silver tracks from morning until evening.

But now, the sun was beginning to set. The sky turned a soft purple, and the first little stars appeared above the station. “Time for bed,” yawned the Station Master, looking at his watch. “Time for bed,” whispered the wind through the trees.

The Little Blue Train was very tired. His wheels felt heavy and slow. He knew it was time to find his cozy sleeping shed to rest his engine.

He started to roll slowly down the track, leaving the busy station behind.

First, he passed the quiet farm. The cows were already asleep in the barn, resting their heads on the soft hay. Everything was still and peaceful. “Sleep tight,” whispered the Little Blue Train as he rolled past. He moved slower and quieter now, enjoying the cool night air.

Then, he came to a big, high hill. He had to climb up, up, up. It was a long way to the top, but he took his time. He climbed steadily until he reached the peak. From there, he drifted gently down the other side, coasting smoothly like a feather floating on the breeze.

Next, he crossed a long bridge over the sleepy river. The water flowed calmly beneath the tracks, reflecting the light of the moon. The Little Blue Train watched the gentle ripples in the water as he crossed safely to the other side. “Sleep tight,” he whispered to the fish below.

He passed the dark forest. The birds were tucked warmly into their nests, hidden among the leaves. The whole forest was silent, waiting for the morning sun. The Little Blue Train rolled on, even slower now. His eyes were getting very heavy. The journey was almost done.

Finally, he saw the big, warm Train Shed. The doors were open, waiting just for him. He rolled inside and came to a gentle stop. He let out a long, soft sigh of relief. He was safe and warm.

“Goodnight, world,” whispered the Little Blue Train. He closed his eyes. The Station Master turned off the lights, leaving just a soft glow in the shed.

And soon, the Little Blue Train was fast asleep, dreaming of happy tracks and sunny days.

Sleep tight, little train.
