Jemima Puddle Duck short story

Once upon a time in a charming English countryside, there lived a lovely white duck named Jemima Puddle-Duck. She had a delightful blue ribbon around her neck and a gentle demeanor that endeared her to everyone around.

One sunny morning, Jemima decided it was time to build a nest and lay her own eggs. She waddled along the meadow, gathering twigs and feathers with determination. However, she was unaware of the cunning fox, Mr. Tod, who lurked nearby with mischief in his mind.

As Jemima diligently worked on her nest, Mr. Tod approached her with a sly smile. He offered to help Jemima find a safe place for her eggs, but his true intentions were far from kind. Jemima, trusting and naïve, followed Mr. Tod’s lead, unaware of the danger looming ahead.

Mr. Tod led Jemima to his cozy den, where he planned to enjoy a tasty duck dinner. Jemima, still unaware of the danger, thanked Mr. Tod and settled into the den, oblivious to the peril she was in.

Meanwhile, a wise old owl observed Mr. Tod’s actions from afar. Sensing the danger, the owl hooted a warning to Jemima, urging her to escape before it was too late.

Startled by the owl’s warning, Jemima realized Mr. Tod’s true intentions. With quick thinking, she flew out of the den and back to the safety of the meadow, leaving Mr. Tod with an empty stomach and a thwarted plan.

From that day on, Jemima Puddle-Duck learned to be cautious and trust her instincts, never again falling for the tricks of cunning foxes. And so, in the peaceful English countryside, Jemima lived happily ever after, wiser and more wary of the world around her.
