Autumn had painted Arendelle in golden leaves and bright orange pumpkins. For the first time, the kingdom was preparing to celebrate Halloween. Lanterns glowed along the streets, and families filled the square with costumes and laughter. Olaf, wearing a pumpkin on his head, proudly declared himself the “Official Pumpkin Greeter.”
From the castle balcony, Anna clapped her hands. “Costumes, candy, and fun—I love it already!”
Elsa smiled, lifting her hands to create a flurry of sparkling snowflakes that shaped into frosty spiders before melting into glittering patterns. “Then let’s make tonight magical.”
As the sun set, the celebration grew louder. Kristoff pulled a wagon full of pumpkins while Sven trotted beside him, ears perked. Anna carved a cheerful sunflower face, while Elsa traced icy leaves around it so the candle shone like starlight.
Just when the music began, a strange sound floated over the square—a soft, haunting melody drifting from the fjord. It was so faint, yet it silenced the crowd. Even Olaf’s pumpkin hat wobbled as he whispered, “I bet it’s a singing pumpkin boat!”
Curious and cautious, the friends followed the sound to the harbor. Mist curled across the water, glowing under the moonlight. There, bobbing on the waves, were tiny lanterns made of bark and leaves, each holding a flickering flame. They drifted like little boats, circling gracefully on the tide.
Near the lighthouse stood an elderly keeper, guiding the lanterns with care. His cloak fluttered in the breeze as he explained, “These are memory lanterns. Families whisper happy stories into them, and the flames carry those memories home.”
Anna’s eyes widened. “That’s beautiful.”
Elsa nodded. “Then no lantern should be lost tonight.”
With a sweep of her hands, Elsa created a sparkling path of ice over the water. The lanterns glided safely toward shore, glowing brighter as they reached the square. The townsfolk gasped in wonder when they saw the shimmering parade arrive.
“Look, Mum!” a child shouted. “The queen brought the lanterns home!”
Elsa gently placed them in the center of the square. The circle of flames danced together, lighting up every face. “Tonight we celebrate Halloween,” she said, “but we also celebrate the stories that make us strong.”
The keeper rang the old bell once, sending a warm note through the air. Anna turned to the crowd. “If you wish, whisper a memory into a lantern—something you’re grateful for this year.”
One by one, people stepped forward. A baker whispered thanks for his new oven. Children giggled about sledding adventures. Oaken praised the socks that kept him warm through winter. Kristoff leaned shyly to a lantern and murmured something about how every day with Anna was an adventure. Anna blushed and added her own promise of love.
Olaf puffed out his chest and announced, “I am thankful for hugs… and warm noses!” Everyone laughed, but the lanterns glowed brighter, as if they agreed.
At last, Elsa knelt beside the blue flame in the center. She thought of the storms they had faced, the love that kept them together, and the family that always endured. “I am grateful for love that lasts,” she whispered, and the flame flared bright as a star.
Music filled the air once again, and children began to dance in their costumes. Pumpkins glowed like tiny suns, and Elsa painted frost leaves that shimmered on the lanterns. Anna led a joyful parade through the square, while Sven pranced proudly at the front and Olaf waddled along with his pumpkin hat.
When the moon reached its peak, Elsa raised a delicate arch of ice above the crowd. Snowflakes drifted gently down, catching the lantern light so they sparkled gold and silver. Families looked up in awe, their lanterns glowing warmly in their hands.
“Happy Halloween, Arendelle,” Anna whispered.
“Happy Halloween,” Elsa echoed, as a final swirl of snow drifted across the square, cool on cheeks and soft as wishes.
The celebration ended with music, lanterns, and love shining brightly into the autumn night.
