Welcome to The Bird of Truth, a short bedtime story for kids that teaches the value of honesty and kindness. Join Becky, a special little bird, on her mission to help children make good choices.
Once upon a time, in a small and peaceful town, there was a little bird named Becky. This special bird had a very important task. Every morning, she would fly from house to house to observe the behavior of children. If she saw a child misbehaving or needing help to learn about honesty and kindness, Becky would talk to them and help them.
One night, as Becky was on her way to her nest to rest, she passed by the house of a girl named Emma. Emma was a kind and cheerful girl, but she had a little secret: she loved sweets. Every night, when her parents were busy, she would sneak into the kitchen, grab some candy, and hide them in her room. At bedtime, she would eat them in secret, without brushing her teeth afterward.
The next morning, Becky perched on a tree in front of Emma’s window and watched her closely. She saw Emma tiptoe into the kitchen, grab a handful of sweets, and run back to her room. The little bird knew Emma needed a little help.
A few minutes later, Emma was sitting by her window when she noticed the beautiful bird perched on the tree.
Hello, Emma, said Becky.
Emma’s eyes widened in surprise. Wow! You can talk? she asked in amazement.
Yes, I can, Becky replied with a smile. And I saw what you did.
Emma’s cheeks turned red. You saw me? she whispered.
The bird nodded gently. I want to tell you something important. Taking sweets without telling your parents is not right. It’s always better to be honest with them.
Emma looked down. But I love sweets, she admitted.
Becky said, It’s okay to enjoy sweets, but eating them late at night and not brushing your teeth can harm them and make it harder to sleep.
Emma listened carefully. She had never thought about it that way. What should I do? she asked.
Talk to your parents, Becky said. They love you very much, and they will understand.
Emma took a deep breath. It wasn’t easy, but she knew Becky was right. That night, she gathered her courage and told her parents everything. I’m sorry for taking sweets in secret, she said. I will try to be honest from now on.
Her parents looked at her with warm smiles. Emma, we are so proud of you for telling the truth, her mother said, hugging her. Next time, just ask, and we will find a good time for you to have some sweets.
Emma felt much better. She promised to be honest and take care of her teeth. That night, as she lay in bed, she saw Becky outside her window. She smiled and whispered, Thank you.
With a joyful smile, Becky spread her wings and flew away, ready to help another child learn the importance of honesty and kindness.
