Welcome to Ten in the Bed, a charming bedtime story about Lucas and his stuffed toys learning to share dreams.

Chapter 1: The Crowded Bed

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Lucas who loved sleeping with all his favorite stuffed animals. Every night, he tucked his nine toys into his big bed. They were all there: Teddy the bear, Hoppy the rabbit, Stretchy the giraffe, Pipo the penguin, Roary the lion, Whiskers the cat, Bruno the dog, Nibbles the mouse, and Wise the owl. The bed looked like a colorful puzzle, with everyone snuggled under a soft, starry blue blanket.

But that night, something unusual happened. Lucas, tired after a long day of play, yawned and said:
“Time to sleep, everyone!”

Just as he turned off the light, a tiny voice piped up. It was Teddy the bear, who grumbled:
“This bed is way too crowded!”

Before Lucas could respond, Teddy rolled to the edge and—plop!—fell to the floor.
“Oh no!” cried Lucas as he picked Teddy up.

Then Hoppy the rabbit mumbled:
“Well, there’s a little more space now… but it’s still too cramped!”

One by one, the toys began rolling out of bed. First, it was Hoppy, then Stretchy the giraffe, followed by Pipo the penguin. Each toy had its own excuse. Stretchy said her long neck needed room, and Pipo complained he wanted fresh air.

When Wise the owl was about to roll off too, Lucas stopped them.
“Wait! Without all of you, this bed wouldn’t feel special.”

The toys glanced at each other but decided to stay on the floor, leaving Lucas with just Roary the lion and Whiskers the cat.

Chapter 2: The Empty Bed

With most of the bed empty, Lucas tried to sleep. But something didn’t feel right. Even though he now had plenty of space, he missed the cozy warmth of his stuffed friends. He closed his eyes and tried to dream, but the silence felt too loud.

Suddenly, he heard a soft whisper from the floor. It was Nibbles the mouse, saying:
“Lucas, we miss being with you too.”

Lucas smiled and replied:
“Then why don’t you all come back? We can figure out a way to fit.”

One by one, the toys climbed back into bed. This time, Lucas made sure to organize everything better. He placed Teddy and Hoppy near his head, Stretchy the giraffe at the foot of the bed, and Pipo the penguin next to Wise the owl.

Whiskers the cat and Bruno the dog found spots in the corners, while Nibbles the mouse curled up in Lucas’s arm. Finally, Roary the lion let out a soft roar and said:
“Now this feels just right.”

With everyone back in the bed, the room filled with warmth and laughter before sleep finally arrived. Lucas realized at that moment that no matter how much space he had, the most important thing was the company of his stuffed friends.

And so, Lucas and his ten friends had a night full of happy dreams.
