On the final night of spring break, Lily sat on the floor of her bedroom, surrounded by glitter glue, paper, and markers. But she was frozen in panic instead of working.
“My homework! I completely forgot!” she moaned. “It’s due tomorrow!”
Her assignment was simple: draw her favorite animal and write three facts about it. But Lily had spent the whole week playing outside, baking cookies with Grandma, and watching movies. Now her backpack sat untouched in the corner, and the clock was ticking.
“I wish someone could help me,” she whispered.
Suddenly, a soft humming filled the room. A glowing light floated through the air and landed gently on her desk. It shimmered like a tiny firefly, and then—whoosh!—it transformed into a floating, talking notebook with tiny wings and golden edges.
“Hello, Lily!” said the notebook in a cheerful voice. “I’m Spark, your magical study buddy. I’m here to help you finish your project!”
Lily blinked. “Are you really… alive?”
“Only when needed,” Spark replied with a smile in his voice. “Now, let’s get started! What’s your favorite animal?”
“Tigers!” Lily said. “They’re strong, fast, and super cool.”
“Perfect,” said Spark. “Let’s find three fun facts.”
Together, they flipped through Lily’s books. Spark floated, lighting up the most interesting pages.
“Did you know tigers are great swimmers?” he asked.
“No way!” Lily laughed. “I’ll write that down!”
Spark gently guided her as she wrote each fact, showing her how to organize her sentences and place her drawings. Lily drew a tiger sprinting through the jungle, added a golden sun, and colored the stripes orange and black.
After an hour, Lily looked at her poster. It was bright, neat, and full of effort.
“I did it,” she whispered. “I really finished it!”
“You did more than finish,” Spark said proudly. “You learned and had fun—that’s the real magic.”
Lily hugged her project. “Thanks, Spark. Homework isn’t so bad when you believe in yourself—and when you have a little help.”
With a soft glow, Spark hovered into the air.
“Good luck tomorrow,” he said. “Remember—you’re smarter than you think.”
Then he vanished in a twinkle of light, leaving only the gentle hum behind.
Just as her mom walked in, Lily grinned.
“Did you finish your project?” her mom asked.
“All by myself,” Lily said with a twinkle in her eye.
The End.
