High up in the blue sky, there lived a Little Cloud. She was white and fluffy, just like a ball of soft cotton.

The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky in beautiful colors of orange, purple, and pink. “Time for bed,” yawned the big yellow sun as he dipped below the horizon. “Time for bed,” whispered the gentle wind, blowing softly against the cloud.

The Little Cloud was very sleepy, too. She let out a tiny, long yawn. Oaaaah. But where could she sleep? The sky was so big! She needed a cozy spot to rest her fluffy head.

So, she began to float. Whoosh, whoosh… slowly drifting.

First, she floated over to a tall, grey mountain. “Can I sleep here?” she asked the mountain peak. “No, no,” rumbled the mountain with a deep voice. “My rocks are too hard and pointy for a soft little cloud. You should try somewhere else.”

The Little Cloud floated on. Whoosh, whoosh… drifting along.

Next, she floated over a big, green forest. “Can I sleep here?” she asked the tall trees. “No, no,” rustled the leaves. “Our branches are too tickly for a soft little cloud. You should try somewhere else.”

The Little Cloud floated on, feeling heavier and sleepier. Whoosh, whoosh.

She floated over the quiet, blue ocean. “Can I sleep here?” she asked the rolling waves. “No, no,” splashed the waves gently. “The water is too wet and cold for a soft little cloud. You should try somewhere else.”

The Little Cloud sighed. She floated higher and higher into the dark sky. She met a group of twinkling Little Stars. They were jumping and sparkling brightly. “Can I sleep here?” she asked the Stars. “No, no,” giggled the Stars. “We are too busy dancing and twinkling! It is too bright here for a sleepy cloud. You should try somewhere else.”

Just then, the big, round Moon woke up in the night sky. She smiled a bright, silver smile at the Little Cloud. “Come here, little one,” said the Moon kindly. She pointed to a quiet, starry spot right next to her. “This is the perfect place for you.”

The Little Cloud floated over to the Moon. The spot was soft, warm, and safe. “Goodnight, world,” whispered the Little Cloud.

She closed her fluffy eyes. Her white light turned soft and dim. And soon, she was fast asleep, dreaming sweet dreams right next to her friend, the Moon.

Shhh… sleep tight, little cloud.
